Electrodermal Screenings

About EAV

Electrodermal Screening is a non-invasive testing method that measures the body’s electrical responses to various substances, helping to identify potential imbalances or sensitivities. By assessing specific meridian points on the skin, practitioners use EAV to gain insights into organ function, nutritional deficiencies, allergies, and other health concerns.

This innovative approach can help balance the body’s energy flow, support immune function, improve digestion, regulate hormones, and address stress-related imbalances, guiding personalized wellness recommendations for optimal health.

Originally developed in the late 1940s by Dr. Reinhold Voll, a German physician and engineer, EDS is based on principles of acupuncture and bioenergetics. He began researching and developed an innovative testing method called EAV (Electronic Acupuncture, according to Voll). Dr. Voll found that normal skin resistance at a healthy point is 100,000 Ohms, which corresponds to a reading of 50 on the Voll Galvanic Skin Response Scale. A healthy pathway can maintain this level of electron flow. Inflammation increases cellular activity and chemical reactions, creating a more active environment that allows electrons to flow more freely. As a result, when inflammation occurs along the pathway, the Electroacupuncture according to Voll (EAV) will show a higher than average electron flow, indicated by a reading above 50. Conversely, degenerative states slow cellular activity, hindering electron flow and resulting in a reading below 50. The most significant finding in EAV testing is when there is a high electron flow initially that drops to a lower reading, known as an "indicator drop." This indicates that a circuit that was once capable of sustaining electron flow is no longer able to do so. Electrodermal screening is not a new concept. This method was documented and validated through over a decade of hospital studies in Germany and is now widely used throughout Europe by more than 25,000 medical practitioners. In the United States, acceptance of EAV is growing, particularly among practitioners specializing in alternative, holistic, and biological medicine. Today, EAV is also referred to as electrodermal screening and bioenergetic testing.

What is Electrodermal Screening?

An EDS/EAV device is a type of Electrical Conductivity Meter. We use electrical current to measure the Meridians. This is an indirect measurement of the Energetic System. We must remember that Energetic Testing, or EAV, differs from standard physiological, pathological, and biochemical medical health measurements. When a practitioner tests the Liver Meridian with an EAV device, he is not testing the actual Liver; he is testing the Energetic component of the Liver. EAV testing is an effective method for gaining insights into energy disruptions in the meridians. EAV is not a replacement for medical testing and is never used for the diagnosis of a medical condition.

What to expect

The typical screening consists of a discussion regarding the information gathered from the intake form. We will discuss all of your health concerns, including but not limited to personal history, family history, allergic response, aches and pains, sleep issues, gastric problems, etc. We will go over current and past medications, if any, so as not to create any conflicts or impede ongoing medical care.  We will then utilize electrodermal screening to map out the areas of inflammation and create a protocol utilizing nutritional, herbal, and homeopathic remedies to aid the body in returning to a balanced state. Through the process of detoxification and tonification, our goal is to support the body in its effort to restore maximum health to the system AKA homeostasis!

Preparing for a screening

On the day of the screening, there are a few considerations. Please be well-hydrated. Please do not apply strong fragrances to the body that day, especially if they have a chemical rather than a botanical base. Refrain from using lotions or oils on the hands, as this can hurt the accuracy of your readings. Electrodermal screening is not a new concept.
